Garrett Smith races into Lucas Dirt Knoxville Nationals; eighth-place outing in prelim
Making the long tow to Iowa, Garrett Smith unloaded his Cadillac Ranch No. 10S at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway on Thursday afternoon for the 20th-annual Knoxville Nationals with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Smith dealt with mechanical issues during night one which resulted in him missing the A-Main, but Garrett rebounded on Friday evening with an eighth-place outing in the $7,000-to-win preliminary feature.
Locked into the $50,000-to-win finale and starting 11th, Garrett was an early retiree in the 75-lap main event and finished 22nd.
