Garrett Smith scores Top-10 finish in preliminary feature at Eldora Speedway
Tackling another big weekend at the Big E, Garrett Smith invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the 30th-annual Dirt Late Model Dream.
With Mother Nature wiping out Wednesday's FloRacing Night in America event, Smith watched from the sidelines on Thursday as he was slated to participate in Friday's preliminary activities.
Setting quicktime in his qualifying group on Friday, Garrett started fourth in his heat after the invert and finished third. Starting inside the Top-5 for the $25,000-to-win prelim feature, Smith slipped back a few positions and finished inside the Top-10 in eighth.
Slated to start third in his heat race on Saturday, Smith lost two spots which relegated him to a last chance showdown. Needing a Top-2 showing, Garrett just missed the cut-off with a fifth-place finish.
