Smith rolls to pair of Top-10 finishes with Spring Nationals at I-75 and Tazewell
Returning to the driver's seat after a few weeks off, Garrett Smith followed the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals to I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) on Friday and Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway on Saturday.
With 40 Late Models on hand for night one, Smith clocked in second-fastest in his qualifying group before picking up a heat race victory. Starting from the second-row in the 53-lap, $10,053-to-win feature, Garrett recorded a Top-5 finish in fourth. He trailed Ricky Weiss, Cory Hedgecock, and Dale McDowell while Jadon Frame completed the Top-5.
Primed for the high banks on Saturday, Garrett weathered a rough and tumble racetrack in the 75-lap marathon and came away with an eighth-place finish.
Smith is currently runner-up in the point standings with the series.
